EU tells Germany, France and Italy to do more to cut government debt

BRUSSELS, Belgium: Germany, France and Italy should make “greater efforts” to bring down government debt by 2010, the European Commission said Tuesday, urging them to use higher-than-expected tax receipts to balance the books.
