President Nicolas Sarkozy of France played to rave reviews on his visit to Washington this week. At a White House dinner Tuesday, he declared his intent to “re-conquer the heart of America.” Yet, the nickname “Sarko l’Américain” can be misleading. Sarkozy wants the French to be only slightly more like Americans – to work a few hours more and be a little more forthright about their affection for money.
